macho man

This man is not a member of the Tamil Village People.  He is a security guard at a very average restaurant in Chennai.  The stash, however, was epic.  He was kind enough to let me capture it in all its glory.  He does not look amused, but this stony faced stare was just a facade for a real teddy bear of a guy.   I found that to be true with many sanctioned photographs I took of folk down south.  Introductions were easy for me to make as I was an albatross in their country--as fascinating to them as they were to me.  One woman at a roadside cafe was so taken with the beakiness of my nose that she invited Jenny and me to come to her home.  My inner circus freak debated charging her a fee, but time was of the essence and we had to hit the highway.

Every time I look at this photo I can't help picturing some poor hipster dude in flannel, wing tips and suspenders crying into his organic micro-brew.
